Paraprofessional Training Program

Paraprofessional Training Programs, created by Maryam Sayyedi, Ph.D., Psychologist, PSY17273, were created to enhance the skills of those professionals working with special populations such as ethnic communities and older adults. This program gives professionals practical, multidisciplinary knowledge, tools and sources to help them serve these special communities more effectively.

Students will learn to identify health, social, and financial matters that are important to clients. Students will also gain understanding on  how these elements work together in their clients lives and influence outcomes.

The Goals of the Paraprofessional Training Program are:

  • To understand general developmental theory
  • To develop an understanding of cultural diversity
  • To develop skills in conflict resolution
  • To learn ways to improve program outcomes when working with special populations
